Geocells were first used and patented in the early 1980s by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The early use of the technology was for the construction of roads on soft soils for military use, today, Cell-Max is not only used for soil stabilization, but also for erosion control of slopes and channels, as well as the construction of retaining walls.
